Yeah, ok, Friday is over. But still.
The boys have started their first-ever park district class, Kid Rock. Today was the third meeting. I need to get them signed up for the next session, b/c it's something of an obsession in our house. "Keewock. Keewock!" It's for 20-month-olds to maybe 2 1/2-year-olds, and we meet up with Macgregor (who goes by Mac), Timmy, Jessica, Lucia, Chandler, their moms (and Chandler's grandma), and Miss Kristin, who is always leading us in the songs and showing us how to pretend.
Today we "explored" a fire station. We pretended to drive a fire truck, put a bean bag on our different body parts to simulate getting fire gear on, "put out" a fire by throwing blue streamers on the floor, and practiced "get low and go!" by crawling under a parachute.
Matthew tends to be pretty shy during this class. It takes a lot for him to warm up, and he will sometimes pathetically cling to me and beg "Kuh-kuh, kuh-kuh" so I will carry him while I do all the things Miss Kristin is asking. Eventually he warms up, but he still likes to hold my hand when we hop or take big steps or march around the room.
Ryan is OBSESSED. He wiggles out of my lap and goes and sits up as close to Miss Kristin as humanly possible. His eyes are locked onto her for the entire class, so he doesn't miss a moment of her examples and teaching. He loves the jumping, the dancing, the music, the shaking ... everything.
It's SO much fun. And then we drive to DG so I can work out afterward while they play at the gym day care. Matthew gets skittish about this, too, but they have Elmo, and Elmo tapes make the world okay.
